Transforming a 2D concept in to a 3D award is child’s play for 3D Trophy Factory.
What’s in a name, right?
There are many ways to go about creating a 3D award from a 2D logo. It can range from really simple and sleek to really elaborate designs with lots of organic elements or geometrical shapes. All depends on the brief and expectations from the client.
The possibilities are endless and with custom manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing, laser cutting and CNC any design is within our reach.
The most used and most effective way of creating a 3D object from a 2D concept is extrusion. This method extends an object along its Z axis to give it depth and body.
Example of extrusion
In the example below we have transformed simple 2D text in to a fun 3D award for Deloitte. You can also try this yourself by creating your own text totem in our webshop.
The awards we made for the Belgian National Lottery are a bit more complex than regular extrusion.
For this project 3D Trophy Factory designed a more organic 3D shape based on the 2D logo of the client. The creative project starts from the original 2D logo and goes through a creative design process driven by our designers and based on the client’s input.
An other example of a more complex conversion is the award we made for the city of Antwerp. At first glance it looks like an intricate 3D structure but standing right in front of it you recognize the typical logo of the city of Antwerp.
